Ed Scolding is a busy and accomplished composer. His pieces have been played at venues including National Museum Wales, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Bristol's Bebop Club and by many ensembles ranging from jazz band Child 9 to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Drawing on his jazz background and vocal training, Ed's colourful music is linked by an attention to detail and distinctive personal voice that includes elements of Medieval plainsong, intricate counterpoint and organic structures.
Ed also performs solo jazz piano regularly at private and public events including major occasions such as Bristol's Ashton Court Festival. He is experienced in providing entertaining feature or background jazz music in a wide range of situations, with a repertoire including standards, swing, blues, modern popular jazz and original pieces. Ed has studied jazz piano with Tim King and Dick Roberts at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
