Campion LIVE MUSIC sponsors the monthly Jazz and Folk Concerts
at Camerton in Somerset. The Keyna JazzFolk Concerts at Camerton Village Hall are hosted on the first Friday of every month with music from John Hooper, jazz pianist and vocalist, Helen James, guitarist and singer and Ali Nourse, fiddler, with their special guests invited from the worlds of jazz, folk and classical music. The concerts provide an evening of musical excellence in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with special cameo performances highlighting new young talented musicians.

Each month a different charity is supported and a donation is given.

2008

Fri 14th Nov: The John-paul Gard Trio. Jazz of the highest calibre from John-paul Gard, keyboard, Alex Hutchings, guitar and Gethin Jones, percussion who perform their mix of jazz and blues from the swinging 60's. Hosted with innovative jazz and folk music from John Hooper, Helen James and Ali Nourse. Young musician cameo performance from Alexander Hooper.

Fri 5th Dec: Keith Warmington and Stuart Gordon: virtuoso blues harmonica player, singer, guitarist and Radio celebrity Keith Warmington “a much in demand, jaw droppingly good harmonica player”, accompanied by Stuart Gordon on violin, for an evening of first class entertainment. Young musician cameo performance: Mikhail Asanovic, classical guitarist.

Fri 2nd Jan: Three Piece Suite, John Hooper, Helen James and Ali Nourse perform with their talented guests Andy Kinsman on jazz saxophone and flute and Lizz Lipscombe on jazz violin with favourite jazz numbers and innovative jazz and folk blended together. Young musician cameo performance: Adam Purnell, classical guitarist.

Fri 6th Feb: Cindy Stratton “One of the best singer/songwriters to emerge from the West Country” Venue Magazine. Cindy, accompanied by bass player Marius Frank, has performed alongside Phil Collins, Jools Holland, Richard Thompson, John Martyn and Labbi Siffre. Plus more innovative jazz and folk from John Hooper, Helen James and Ali Nourse. Young musician cameo performance: Bethan James, classical pianist.

Fri 6th March: Brejeiro, The exciting acoustic group that specialises in the Choro style of music from Brazil. Dave Griffiths and Mike Pryor on mandolins, Helen James on guitar, all propelled by dynamic Latin percussion from Andy Fuller. Plus more lively jazz and folk from Three Piece Suite. Young musician spotlight performance to be announced.

Fri 3rd April: “The John Hooper Jam Session”. John Hooper with guests Ron Brown, trombone, Chris Pearce, clarinet, Geoff Nichols, trumpet, Andy Kinsman, saxophone, Cass Caswell, bass and Roger Powell, drums in a Jam Session tribute to Eddie Condon and the Chicago Style of Dixieland. A line up that will raise the roof! Plus the Ali and Helen folk duo. Young musician spotlight to be announced.

Fri 1st May: Acclaimed international singer/songwriter and pianist, Paul Millns. Paul Millns has performed with many great stars including Bert Jansch and Ralph McTell and has had his songs recorded by many, from Elkie Brooks to Bonnie Tyler. Fri 5th June: Bath Fringe Event “Elemental Tumult”. First performed at the Bradford on Avon Arts Festival, this is a highly charged and superbly portrayed combination of music from Three Piece Suite, complimenting poetry and prose from Megan Jones, Sibyl Mitchell and Friends in a celebration of the power of the elements through music and words. Young musician spotlight to be announced.

Fri 3rd July: Pete Allen, the international virtuoso jazz clarinettist, entertainer and honorary citizen of New Orleans for his services to music, performs as guest with John Hooper, Helen James and Ali Nourse with a dazzling evening of jazz. Young musician spotlight to be announced.
